AOI underwater housings are compact, lightweight, and ergonomic. Depending on the lens you want to use with your camera, you'll need a matching AOI port, gear and AOI extension ring. AOI has created port charts where you can look up exactly which items you need to start underwater photography with your lens in the underwater housing.
Does your AOI underwater housing have a PEN or OM-D mount?
The main question you need to answer is: does your underwater housing have a PEN or OM-D mount? You can find this information in the specifications of your underwater housing. Check your underwater housing in our webshop, as this information is always listed in the specifications.
Note! It is really important to verify the mount of your underwater housing from the specifications. Even if the name of your camera or underwater housing is OM-D, the underwater housing might still have a PEN mount. For example, the OM-D OM-1 underwater housing uses the PEN Port Chart.
Next, open the correct port chart and check which lenses you can use. You will see in the columns which focus gear/zoom gear, extension ring/adapter, and port you need.
Quick Release System and Wet Lenses
In the tables, you'll also find two columns at the end labeled quick release system and wet lenses. This information is needed if you want to use an additional wet lens on top of the port for extra macro or wide-angle. You can screw the wet lens on and off underwater during the dive. First the quick release element is screwed onto the port to enable this functionality. When not using the wet lens, you can conveniently mount it on an underwater lens holder that can be attached to an arm.
Using an OM-D Lens Port on an Underwater Housing with a PEN Mount
The PEN port system is more compact than the OM-D port system, which results in different lens usage options. For larger lenses, an underwater housing with a PEN mount can use an OM-D port via an adapter ring (from PEN to OM-D). Conversely, adapter rings are also available. This is clearly shown in the tables, as long as you start with the correct table: Check whether your underwater housing has a PEN or OM-D mount.
